On top of this all, the owner told us that he had our charged our credit cards for the night. We arrived there to the volunteers telling us that the key to our room was on the counter but they were specifically instructed not to give it to us. We tried to call them and even when they told us “we’re trying to find a solution”, the owner (Javier) simply left the hostel, told the volunteers not to open the door for us, and then deliberately ignored our calls. They told us that after 9pm they close check-in, and that’s it. We communicated with the hostel that we would arrive late, and tried to arrange a way for them to provide us the key (through leaving it in a lock pad, giving it to the volunteers working in the hostel that live there, etc.). For our recent reservation that was booked at the Arena Boutique Hostel, we booked it due to the reason that it had the “24H service” feature as part of the hostel.
